Guests! Many asked me this question "What is pokemon actually?"
The answer is:
In a world much like our own, there exists over 250 creatures of all shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities, called pocket monsters(“pokemon” for short). Some pokemon are Fire types, some are Water types, some are Grass types, and so on. Some live on land, some in the water, and some live underground. But all pokemon are equipped with special attacks that pertain to whatever type of element they are. Certain people, called pokemon trainers, use pokemon for battles. When drawn into the capture device called a pokeball, pokemon become easily portable. The goal of a pokemon trainer is to have their pokemon battle against other pokemon in order for their pokemon to get stronger. If a pokemon gets enough battle experience, it could evolve into another, more powerful creature. In order to be a good pokemon trainer, you must capture a lot of pokemon, train some of them to be really strong in pokemon battles, and most importantly, you must get your pokemon to love you and trust you, or else it won’t obey you!
The Pokemon Anime follows the adventures of Ash Ketchum, a pokemon trainer from Pallet Town. On the day he was supposed to get his first pokemon from the famous pokemon researcher, Prof. Oak, Ash overslept! He wasn’t able to get one of the starter pokemon, but Prof. Oak had one last pokemon left over...a Pikachu. Ash liked Pikachu right away, but Pikachu didn’t return his feelings(Pikachu even refused to go inside a pokeball) Very soon after leaving Pallet Town on his journey to be a “Pokemon Master”, Ash was attacked by a gang of angry Spearows. The bird pokemon attacked Pikachu, but Ash was able to save him by stealing a bike from Misty, a girl fishing by a lake near Pallet Town. Ever since Ash saved Pikachu from the Spearows, the two became inseparable friends. However, Misty was still determined to follow Ash until he got her a new bike! Pretty soon, Ash and Misty met Brock, the gym leader of Pewter City. Brock’s dream was to be the world’s best pokemon breeder. He also joined Ash and Misty on their pokemon journey. Pokemon is one of the few Animes where the plot remains pretty much the same throughout the whole series: Ash, Misty, Brock and their pokemon traveling around the pokeworld, meeting all kinds of people and pokemon, stopping Team Rocket(Jessie, James, and the talking pokemon Meowth) from stealing pokemon, Ash battling against the gym leaders of each city, and all the while, trying to keep one step ahead of his rival, Gary.
Pokemon began as a role playing game for Game Boy. It became so popular that an Anime series was immediately made, based on the game(Pokemon is one of the longest Animes I’ve ever seen!). What makes Pokemon so appealing would, of course, be the pokemon themselves. There’s cute pokemon, strong pokemon, funny pokemon, scary pokemon, mysterious pokemon...there’s a pokemon to suit everyone’s taste! And if you love animals, what are pokemon but just more animals to love...animals with amazing powers and lovable personalities. I guess the thrill of making these creatures stronger and having them to battle and to care for is what made the game so popular. It’s a really unique scenario, with all sorts of elements for lots of different people to enjoy. And with the Pokemon Anime, you can actually see the characters you love in action! Even though Ash, Misty, and Brock don’t particularly thrill me, I just love the cute and comical Team Rocket...and all 251(and counting) pokemon, as well!
